Newest furniture addition to my family room

About 5 years ago I bought an amazing piece of furniture from a woman I knew. It needed some fixing up and a paint job, but regardless was an AMAZING piece. For years it has sat in my gutted kitchen. I finally realized it needed more recognition and needed to be repainted and moved into my family room. It is the third project toward my temporary family room makeover. Project one can be seen HERE. Project two can be seen HERE.

I had originally painted this "French Roast" by Sherwin Williams. I painted the interior yellow for some pop.

To match the living room, I used some Benjamin Moore OOPS paint I have. It is a VERY pale blue/gray color. I painted the interior black for contrast.

As you can see it is a substantially sized piece. Our ceilings are 11 feet high, so I really like to utilize the space. This post brings back memories of Randy and I trying to get this in the house during a snowstorm. I don't think it will ever leave this house after what we went through to get it in. UGH!

  11. It's so beautiful!! I love all that detail at the top. The lighter color really show all of the details much better than the dark.

  19. That reminds me of when we moved our boys' armoire into our house. It was made by my surrogate grandfather, and it is GINORMOUS. We couldn't fit in the door and up the stairs, so we had to take down our stairway railing and newel post to get it past them! Which of course means that if we ever move, we'll have to do that again. GAH.

  20. I like how you painted the interior yellow. I do feel that it does give it more pop. I like that idea and if I get some furniture like this I will do the same. That or use another color to give it as you like to say "more pop".
