Almost 3 years ago we gutted and remodeled Sami's room which can be seen HERE from ceiling to floor. For me to keep the same color paint on the wall for that long is an all time record. The hot pink and zebra print was our original theme. A few months back Sami told me she wanted a little more color in her room, so we did that. But honestly, I have not liked it ever since. I was laying in her bed the other night looking around and I couldn't take it anymore. I told her we were redecorating on a budget. Meaning spending NO money or almost NO money. I plan on selling her old bedding to pay for the new bedding. Even though I already bought the new bedding and haven't sold the old bedding yet......
I went to Homegoods yesterday to try to find some inspiration. I found it immediately and knew it was exactly what I wanted and what Sami would love. It was an Amy Butler comforter and sham. I love Amy Butler's fabrics and prints.
She has always had a vanity, but the storage is so minimal. She has been dying for a desk, but I told her she'd have to wait for the right one to come along. Well the right $5 desk jumped out at me at Goodwill yesterday.
As you can see, it was pretty nasty, but I saw right through that. I am not a fan of the Americana drawer pulls, so I removed them, filled the holes, and drilled a new center hole for a single knob.
The first thing I did was prime the bare wood.
I was really lucky for two reasons. I happened to have the perfect paint color on hand that I bought as an OOPS for $1. The second was the awesome knobs I had on hand. I purchased them from Anthropologie a few months back. They were originally $14.00 each. I got them on sale for $2.95.
Here it is all in its glory!
I will share the progress of the room throughout the week. I hope to have it all done by mid next week.
