Shabby chic dessert serving dish

I have never been the type to use matching serving pieces. I love the eclectic vibe of mismatched pieces. I made a fairly simple serving piece this weekend for a total of $3. I purchased a dish, a candlestick holder, and a cloche. All were $1 a piece. This is how it turned out.

Spray paint and fabric go a long way.....

I am always so amazed at the transformation an object can go through simply with a couple of coats of spray paint and some new fabric. For example....Here is a boring, bland , and ugly chair I found....

Two coats of white spray paint and some scrap fabric transformed this boudoir chair into this.....

The white box!

Well, daddy dearest comes through for me again. He finds the coolest stuff for me to paint and the majority of the time, he gets it for free. The other day he gave me this AWESOME wood box.

Although it was already so cool the way it was, I wanted to add some color to brighten it up and give it the "pop" it needed....I know, it is so unlike me, but I actually went with the color white for a change....

How to get sponsors

You know how you start googling something and one thing leads to another and before you know it you have forgotten where you began? Well I did just this last night. I came across this site called Social Spark. From what I have read, it can help with your sponsors on your blog. I am still going to read it in more detail. I figured it can't hurt and I would give it a try.

I honestly don't know much about it, but thought I'd share with you.

My refrigerator makeover

Yes, my refrigerator got a makeover today. No, I did not paint it like I do with every object in my life. But....It did get a lot of color like the paints I use on a daily basis.

Here is the before:

Eclectic chic oil cans

As my father cleans their home out for their big move, he contunues to give his collections to me. One of my favorites were some old oil cans. I had a before photo but for some crazy reason I can't find it. So I will just have to share the after photos with you....All they needed was a little paint and some distressing.

They make great photo frames by attaching a photo to the stem with a clothes pin.

Have a great weekend.

A unique frame for an amazing photo..."Shabby meets rustic"

A few weeks back I did a giveaway with Kim from Semi Sweet Studios. She is an artist and photogher featuring photos and paintings of the most gorgeous things.

Anyway, I was so excited when she told me she was going to send me one of the photos. It came yesterday and I was blown away! I have never seen a picture look so real. I felt like I could have touched and smelled it. Trust me when I say this photo I took does not even begin to do it justice...

I told Kim I was going to get a frame for it and share it on my blog next week. But.....I couldn't wait until then, but I also didn't have a frame. My impatience was getting the best of me, so I decided to make a display for it with what I had laying around the house. I grabbed some worn pallet wood I had.

I decided I was going to hang it in one of the bathrooms. Here is what I came up with...Shabby meets rustic....

Be sure to go over to Kim's SHOP and find a photo or piece of art for your own home. There is nothing better than something so unique for your decor. Her prices are great too....

In addition, Kim has just started a new BLOG. Be sure to stop by and say hi to her!

Did I really meet Fifi O'Neill?

I have some exciting news to share regarding my friend Debra from Capers of the Vintage Vixens. The fabulous Fifi O"Neill from Chez Fifi traveled to Debra's small town Connecticut home to shoot photos for her upcoming book and magazine. I was so excited when Debra asked me to come over to meet Fifi and her photographer Mark.

Here is Fifi climbing some furniture arranging vignettes for the shoot.

The next photo is of Debra with Fifi and Mark.

Although I am not one to jump at the chance of being in photos, I was not turning this one down...This is me with Fifi and Mark....

Fifi and Mark were so nice and it was such a pleasure to meet them. I am so happy for Debra that her home was chosen for such an opportunity. She beyond deserved it. Go to Debra's blog to see more photos and to read more about her exciting day.

Thanks for including me Debra. You know I had a blast!
